Jazzclub Live: Trio.Diction
TIP
In the international week of four-piece trios, Drei vom Rhein can of course only be followed by Trio.Diction. Musically, however, one band must be understood as the opposite of the other. The four young Leipzigers have found their very own sound aesthetic, inspired by song cycles of the Romantic period, Broadway songs and current singer/songwriting. Their chamber music miniatures translate formats and timbres of romantic music into improvisational play. This has something serious and melancholic about it, but it is also often infused with what the word "joke" used to mean: namely, something witty and humorous far removed from crude funniness. But of course it is still funny from time to time. Oh yes, the band won the Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award in 2014 and still has no drummer. But everyone in town knows that by now, right?
