Jazzclub Live: Michael Wollny Trio and Trio.Diction RELOCATED TO TELEGRAPH
On the 2014 album "Weltentraum" Michael Wollny once again goes completely new ways: Because [em]-bassist Eva Kruse is on maternity leave, Wollny forms the US-American Tim Lefebvre on bass and Eric Schaefer on drums around him and processes with them works from Varèse, Hindemith, Berg and Rihm to the Flaming Lips. His music sounds like never before and yet as crashingly vital, emotional, intelligent, virtuosic and open in all directions as usual.
Simply no one plays the piano like this pianist, music inventor, lateral thinker and popular figure, born in 1978: the unpredictable, the search for the previously unheard, the courage to surrender to the moment, the unforeseen in a natural sound - "This is how the future of German jazz sounds" (ttt).
Michael Wollny has been a piano professor at the HMT Leipzig since this semester - what could be more fitting than to have Trio.Diktion support him at his inaugural concert? The quartet around Nun Wollny student Philip Frischkorn has just been awarded the Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Prize of the Marion Ermer Foundation at the 38th Leipzig Jazz Days.
The concert will be held at the Telegraph, not the UT.
