Jazzclub Live: MEAN
TIP
Four daring guys with a passion for musical hussar rides between cultivated jazz and wild rock present their second album. It's called "Clara Park" and is released by Jazzhausmusik. As before, the four celebrate their "heroes from a distant time", from Frank Zappa to Elfriede Jelinek. And although music journalist Linus Volkmann generally forbids the phrase "With this band, the name says it all" (only the Toten Hosen are allowed to say that about themselves, he continues), MEAN claims that the band's name says it all: because the quartet's music is savage and nasty, nasty and pathetically mean, a felty, dishonest mixture of jazz, punk, rock, ska and Bavarian brass music, in which trumpeter Martin Auer has his roots. But in the end, everything fits together quite unfies prima. And sometimes you can even dance to it.
