Jazzclub Live: Flashback #28 Charlie Parker

Pianist Philip Frischkorn loves jazz. As a special characteristic of this music he makes out its striving for renewal and its urge to make the unknown heard. Inspired by the past, in this case represented by the revolutionary music of Charlie Parker, Frischkorn goes his own way with his project "The Kaleidoscope // Charlie Parker Recomposed". The goal is not the virtuosic imitation of Parker's rapid and elegant speed, but rather to incorporate the unpredictability and independence of the alto saxophonist into his own musical creations. Like a familiar voice, Charlie Parker's material co-determines the text of the concert. As if chased through a hall of mirrors, some things remain recognizable and others become unrecognizable abstractions.
