Jazzclub Live: Three from the Rhine
TIP
Since 1993, the year Frank Zappa died, the four funny three from the Rhine have been skillfully meandering between jazz, fusion, progressive and whatever rock. Inevitably, this had to end with Zappa's works. In 2009 they paid tribute to him with "DVR Plays Uncle Frank". Werner Neumann, the exceptional guitarist and head of the band, has since been supported by Pit Hupperten on vocals and rhythm guitar. In the new line-up the current disc "Francesco" was created, a kind of hermaphrodite of seven epic original compositions in the spirit of Zappa and a whole latte of "real" Zappa songs. The four smash their fragile basic frameworks and tinker with them with breathtaking creativity on new arrangements, which they put their own stamp on with devoted passion and thieving joy.
