In 2007, the formation consisting of a classical string quartet - Rodrigo Bauzá (v), Marjolaine Locher (v), Johannes Dittmar (va), Hui-Chun Lin (vc) - and a jazz piano trio - Dmitrij Golovanov (p), Robert Lucaciu (b), Beat Freisen (dr, ld) - made the leap to the big festival stage of the 31st Leipzig Jazz Days after a convincing performance at the national festival for young jazz musicians. Since then Beat Freisen's Spelunkenorchester has been on the road to success. Supported by original compositions, between group improvisation and solo passages they form a unity of unusual dimensions driven by the rocking drumming of their bandleader.
