The HMT Big Band has existed since the 1990s and has been led by saxophonist, flutist, arranger and composer Rolf von Nordenskjöld since 2001. Some of today's band members were still running around the Christmas tree with drums back then, some couldn't even walk at that time. That looks different today, of course! Running they have learned, musically as well. They have performed extensive works, such as Stan Kenton's "Cuban Fire Suite" and Duke Ellington's "Far East Suite." The big band's repertoire includes works by Count Basie and Duke Ellington as well as contemporary pieces by Maria Schneider, Bill Holman and Bob Brookmeyer, and compositions and arrangements by Rolf von Nordenskjöld and HMT students.
