Harri Sjöström "Move

A Finn, a Mexican, a Norwegian and two Germans walk into a jazz club. No joke!
Finnish soprano saxophonist Harri Sjöström's birthday isn't for another three years. No joke either! He was born on February 29 and he has formed an international quintet with which he will tour Germany in May 2017. This features a prominent line-up with Albert Mangelsdorff Prize winner Achim Kaufmann on piano, the youngest Bauer brother Matthias on double bass, Berlin-Mexican vibraphonist Emilio Gordoa and Norwegian drummer Dag Magnus Narvesen, who plays in a duo with Alexander von Schlippenbach, among others.
Harri Sjöström first studied saxophone, flute and piano in the 70s, then photography and film in San Francisco. In the 90s he recorded six albums with Cecil Taylor. He is active in numerous projects of improvised music, free jazz and film music.
Harri Sjöström (ss, sss), Matthias Bauer (kb), Achim Kaufmann (p), Emilio Gordoa Rodriguez (vib) and Dag Magnus Narvesen (dr).
