As a reminder: Flo Kästner originally studied classical violin and piano, but came to jazz piano late in life. For a few years now, however, he has been moving in the extremes of jazz formation - leaving the piano trio to the left, he says: "All or nothing!" Meaning: big band or solo, Spielvereinigung Sued or "Gleiswechsel" (mons records 2014). He now devotes himself entirely to dialogue and intimate dialogue in a duo with saxophone luminary Johannes Enders, probably the most influential German jazz saxophonist. He is a professor at the HMT Leipzig, comes from Weilheim and yes, he founded the Tied & Tickled Trio with the Acher brothers, whose band The Notwist he always reinforces in the studio. You can already tell: he tries to combine jazz with minimal music, post-rock and electronic in many projects, including with Enders Room/Enders Dome. His philosophy relies on the exchange and encounter with other musicians, and seems almost private in its intimacy and clarity.
