We'll just say it now: The Benefizz Jazz of the young Leipzig scene on World Jazz Day on April 30 has become a small tradition. This time No Kissing, Trio.Diktion, Cary, Philipp Rumsch // Arpen and the Ensemble for Non-European Music will play. The bands will waive fees, and admission is free - so eager donations can be made to SOS Méditerranée, an aid initiative to rescue refugees in distress at sea on the Mediterranean, and Mosaik Leipzig e.V., which provides counseling and psychosocial support to immigrants and refugees.
Initiated in 2016 by Eva Klesse, a small team of Leipzig musicians called fizz has since come together to organize Benefizz Jazz: "We believe in living together openly. Out of this conviction, we want to first be a platform for all who also believe that we share the responsibility for a good coexistence as citizens*, and that we do not exclude from this coexistence those who come to us for various reasons, often also those that we owe in our Europe."
