Jazzclub Live: Philipp Rumsch Ensemble

With the still quite young and unusual formation of the Leipzig and Berlin jazz and classical scene, the composer and pianist Philipp Rumsch processes various styles from minimal, electronic music, pop and classical music into a new sound language. In doing so, he transfers the aesthetics of electronic soundscapes into an organic analog format. Repetitive patterns overlap with bold vocalises by singer Erik Leuthäuser; reduced, in constant alternation between improvisation and composition. Influences from Erik Satie and Steve Reich to Brian Eno and Aphex Twin are unmistakable. The result is a fascinating, almost hypnotic music of high suggestive power.
