Jazzclub Leipzig in a new guise

"It is not the word that is originally the material of poetry, but the letter," said Kurt Schwitters, making a statement that laid the foundation for the new development of the visual identity.
An equally concise and simple symbol for Jazzclub Leipzig and its projects was developed. The "Z" with an overline is an allusion to the diacritical mark "macron", the abbreviation in music notation and the slash above a consonant doubling, as used in Kurrent script.
The effect, however, is another matter: jazz is not pleasing, jazz has disruptive potential. It challenges listening habits, just as the "Z" does with visual habits. It is more than just a letter. It is a symbol, an idea, a carrier of identity, leaves room for interpretation and does not present a fait accompli - play your own thing!
