Triple concert with Sylvie Courvoisier, Sylvie Courvoisier & Evan Parker.
Embryo are considered essential kraut pioneers of the 1970s and are so much more at the same time: jazz rock, fusion and transcultural music culminate in a wide-ranging sound framework. Led by band leader Marja Burchard, who took over the project from her father Christian in 2018, fascinating sound research is conducted with the help of acoustic and modulated sounds.

Since their formation in 1969, Embryo have continuously questioned the concept of the band. The formation was never a self-contained cosmos of a narrow, predefined circle, but rather a system, a musical context. Over 400 different musicians are said to have been involved in the project since it was founded. Burchard's collective has never been about virtuosity or musical exhibitionism; instead, the focus has been on shared experience. Despite their long history, Embryo - unlike many reunion bands - do not define themselves primarily through their tradition. Instead of looking back, they prefer to explore the future. As such, »Auf Auf«, the band's latest album from 2021, is characterized by an insatiable curiosity for new, unknown sounds. Whether acoustic or modulated: sounds from vibraphone, synthesizer, santur, organ, trombone and much more grow together here as naturally as if they had always been one.
