LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ, BABY
"May, May, May does what it wants," is how the Franconian philosopher Lothar Matthäus would put it. But we say: No way, May does what we want it to do!
And that means music. More precisely, "other music," as we have always called it in this leading medium alongside jazz. It's already off to a good start: From April, which as we all know ends with World Jazz Day, we celebrate with the young Leipzig scene into May, listen to five bands, collect donations for SOS Méditerranée and Mosaik Leipzig. Then on 1.5. the first of no less than five HMT Stage Nights this month. And apart from the Tuesday Stage Nights, the Telegraph is also dedicated to the squeaky-clean cooperation between the Jazzclub and the HMT, because on three Wednesdays there are ensemble evenings that show what is currently going on in jazz-popular music at the HMT.
At the end of the month, someone who is already big will be on stage: You may know Ritsche Koch from the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra or from his collaboration with people like the Beatsteaks, Peter Fox and Nils Frahm. At the end of his 30s, he has now founded his own band, of course with illustrious fellow musicians, to be experienced on 23.5. Five days later we will be guests again in the beautiful Werkcafé of Neue Musik Leipzig, when Jomo and Matti get the time capsule ready for Gerry Mulligan and Paul Desmond.
