LET'S TALK ABOUT INDIE JAZZ, BABY
When we read in the press release of almost every young jazz band that they are influenced by Radiohead, then it shows that many young musicians integrate influences from indie, i.e. sophisticated alternative pop music into their jazz compositions and improvisations. And when we "on the other hand" see indie bands like The Notwist or Radiohead, then we can also experience there, especially in live concert, impressively, with how much artistry, but also with how much ecstasy, can be played across possible borders of pop, rock and jazz.
Therefore, for our 27th MusikZeit we present artists who question the genre boundary between jazz and alternative pop music, overcome it and break it - or simply deny the existence of this very boundary: the English piano trio GoGo Penguin (already sold out), the transatlantic guitar trio Trio Butterflythe Dresden experimental duo ÄTNA and Fhlaipwthe brand new project of Philipp Rumsch and Arpen.
