LET'S TALK ABOUT INDIE-JAZZ, BABY
When we read in the press release of almost every young jazz band today that they are influenced by Radiohead, it is a sign that many young musicians are integrating influences from indie, i.e. sophisticated alternative pop music, into their jazz compositions and improvisations. And when we see "on the other hand" indie bands like The Notwist or Radiohead, then we can also experience impressively, especially in live concerts, how much artistry, but also how much ecstasy, can be played across the possible boundaries of pop, rock and jazz.
That's why, for our 27th MusikZeit , we are presenting artists who question, overcome and break down the genre boundaries between jazz and alternative pop music - or simply dispute the very existence of these boundaries: the English piano trio GoGo Penguin (already sold out), the transatlantic guitar trio Trio Schmetterlingthe Dresden experimental duo ÄTNA and Fhlaipwthe brand new project by Philipp Rumsch and Arpen.
