From the new “ Jazzkalender ” editorial:
Let’s talk about …
John Scofield, Tord Gustavsen, Rolf & Joachim Kühn, Avishai Cohen, Baby Sommer, Robert Glasper, Martin Tingvall, Michael Wollny, Shai Maestro—2014 was a very special year for the “ Jazzclub ” in Leipzig. From the “Sound of Heimat” at the 38th “ Leipziger Jazztage ” to the German-Greek “ MusikZeit ” “Faust & Helena” and the “ Jazzclub ” live program—which once again received an award from the German federal government—to successful collaborations with, among others, naTo, the Campusfest, and the Schauspiel Leipzig: nearly 13,000 attendees came to the 109 concerts, another increase of nearly 20% over the already fantastic previous year.
Many, many thanks to everyone who supported us—thanks to all the sponsors, treasurers, cable pluggers, artist pick-up drivers, sandwich makers, behind-the-scenes workers, photographers, Jazz Calendar distributors, poster hangers, and amp repairers! Above all, thank you to you, dear audience, for your trust, your feedback, and your passion.
And now on to the next round: 2015, we’re ready!
To kick things off, we’ve made Jazzkalender more readable, clearer, and more visually appealing (thanks to you too, caligabimba)—but we’ve still got plenty more up our sleeves…
