LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ... and bloom! Now!
Been outside lately? It's fun to let the late winter wind shake your trouser legs, coat flaps and hairstyles while you gaze at the early bloomers in the light floodplain forest. For as ever, the emerging green season is not stingy with charms! But there's more! In 2022, in addition to the spring awakening of nature after the second pandemic winter and the accompanying massive restrictions on cultural (experience) life, there is also a reblooming of the same in theair. Finally! We can't quite believe it yet and our confidence is still a tender plant, but we are holding on to it, watering with care and taking a look ahead at what is to come!

Just a moment - a quick look back over our shoulder is a must: What have we actually been doing over the past few months? Sighing and tearing our hair out (too)! Most recently, we decided to keep our feet still until the end of February and not organize any events. Because we couldn't plan without a long-term and prudent opening strategy! Organizing concerts with external musicians requires advance notice. The constant back and forth between planning, announcing, canceling, re-planning, hoping for an opening, re-planning and announcing ties up additional financial and human resources that we cannot afford in the long term. So far so good. Let's move on! We're not the only ones oscillating between melancholy and hope! So does the music of Leipzig-based musician Damian Dalla Torre, whose debut album "Happy Floating" was released at the end of February and who (as luck would have it) will open our series of concerts for this year with his release concert at the naTo sociocultural center on March 20. A few days earlier, on March 15, the HMT Stage Night will start again at the Moritzbastei. Speaking of which, we at Jazzclub and Moritzbastei have made plans together! Formerly initiated and carried out as a cooperative event, Jazzclub has recently only accompanied the nationwide jazz festival for young talents in the Moritzbastei on the sidelines. From this year and in time for the 30th edition of the festival on April 8 and 9, 2022, things will be different again. Cliffhanger alert: more on this in the next issue!
Now we hear each other more often again!
