Peter Brötzmann Trio
For Peter Brötzmann, disregarding conventions and expressing himself in an unconstrained way were already trend-setting as a painter. As a saxophonist, excessive overblowing and powerful staccato runs became characteristics of his playing style.
He is considered one of the fathers of European free jazz, with influence as far away as the USA. Brötzmann was also noticed in East Germany, and as early as 1978 he made a guest appearance at the Leipzig Jazz Club.
Since 1962, he has appeared again and again in a trio - for a long time with the double bass player Peter Kowald and changing drummers. This time he brings along John Edwards (b) and Steve Noble (dr) from London's improvisation scene.
