One Grand Four Solos
Let's get straight to the point: there's a lot going on musically in Leipzig. We all know the usual suspects and places, no question. Of course, none of this is old news, but as they say, you should braid new braids when your hair sprouts. Or something like that. So when four young pianists who live in Leipzig and, with the exception of one, also trained at the local HMT, invite you to a concert, you should seize the opportunity and go. Clemens Christian Poetzsch has released the solo album "Remember Tomorrow" on Neue Meister in 2019. Malte Sieberns played an HMT graduation concert at the end of January and has already been a guest at the 41st Leipziger Jazztage as part of the band Church of Jupiter. Philip Frischkorn has "essentially shaped the profile of the [Eva Klesse] Quartet in recent years with incisive playing inspired by late Romanticism and modernism." Johannes Bigge's main projects include his trio, with which he has already released two albums, most recently "Imago" in 2018. The newly initiated series of events is intended to continue to provide Leipzig jazz pianists with a forum for presenting a wide variety of approaches to the piano as improvising and composing musicians.
