Moutin Factory
TIP
When the Moutin family grew on Christmas Eve 1961, the musical talent of the twins François and Louis was probably already in the cradle. It is no coincidence that in 2005 both François Moutin (b) and Louis Moutin (dr) were awarded the most important French jazz prize, the "Prix Django Reinhardt". Together with one of the most talented guitarists of the country Manu Codjia, the internationally experienced saxophonist Christophe Monniot (Joachim Kühn, Daniel Humair, Emil Spányi) and the pianist Jean-Michel Pilc - also winner of the "Prix Django Reinhardt" - they currently form the exceptional quintet Moutin Factory.
Immediately before they will perform on Broadway-N.Y. as well as in New Orleans, St. Louis, Memphis-Tennessee, Chicago, Cleveland,... the Moutin workers first come to Leipzig's house for special musical events. The title of their current album "Deep" describes almost programmatically their rousing-impressive way of playing. In detached passion Louis with unconventionally broken up, pulsating drumming and François with mercilessly grooving, melodic bass lines conjure up a coherent basis on which saxophone and guitar, spurred on by captivatingly interaction-dense piano playing, fly to improvisational summits. At the same time, however, sound fields of lingering urgency are repeatedly developed from more restrained passages.
