Jazzclub Live: Carl Wittig's Aurora Octet
Depending on the scattering of light and the content of suspended particles in the air, Aurora begins her clearing ride through the sky thirty to forty-five minutes before sunrise. Carl Wittig did well to give his octet the name of the rose-fingered goddess of the dawn. The musicians unite the respective tonal beauty of a jazz quartet and a string ensemble to form a multi-faceted body of sound. From their multitude of instrumental possibilities, the band draws suspenseful and knows how to create a dazzling appearance, just like the heavy goddess Aurora - with the compositions of double bassist Carl Wittig and saxophonist Matti Oehl, the brightness in the otherwise all-shady live club Telegraph awakens once again on May 2 in the evening.
