Supersilent feat. Stian Westerhus
Much super, little silent. Norwegian avant-garde meets guitar mephisto
There is a dangerous unpredictability in Supersilent's music, a sense that anything can happen, wild beauty, lyrical and disturbingly violent sounds. They open up new worlds of sound and color for all the senses.
Helge Sten, Ståle Storløkken and Arve Henriksen never rehearse together. Nor do they discuss their music. They simply record concerts and albums. The respective moment, the mood, the togetherness of the musicians determines the direction. In the studio, they play improvised pieces hour after hour, so that, as with their first record, a triple album can sometimes result. So if jazz can be described as the "sound of surprises", then Supersilent is the jazz band par excellence. Yet their music lies in the no man's land between genres, somewhere between rock, electronica, jazz and modern composition.
John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) has already been on tour with the three Norwegians, but to Leipzig they now come with the quasi fourth member of the band: Stian Westerhus, already admired at his Jazztage solo concert in 2012. A concert of superlatives full of virtuoso sounds, musical excesses, wacky guys is coming up, which will surely not be forgotten.
