Ketil Bjørnstad "Images/Edvard Munch"
Festival project of the 40th Leipziger Jazztage
Ketil Bjørnstad is one of Norway's most important pianists, and his compositions have been used in films by Jean-Luc Godard and Ken Loach, among others. In addition, he is one of the best-known Norwegian writers of our time - thus at home in several "fine arts". The ideal guest for this year's Leipzig Jazz Days! In his solo concert, however, he will devote himself neither to film nor to literature, but to painting: for the first time he will combine his two albums "Images" and "Cantata on Texts by Edvard Munch". His famous melodic playing is based as much on elements of European classical music as on a great improvisational ability inspired by jazz.
Also on this first major concert evening at the Opera House: the two premieres of Beats Freisen's "The Jungle Book" as well as Julia Hülsmann with her quartet and Theo Bleckmann with "The Root - poetry set to music from four centuries from Dickinson to Shakespeare to Whitman".
Tickets between 19 and 50 euros since July 1, 2016 at all known sales points.
