Double concert with Theo Croker - At the age of eleven, Jas Kayser discovered the drums for herself. Some fifteen years later, in April this year, she released her debut album and is currently one of the most exciting newcomers on the young British jazz scene.

"I knew it from the minute I started playing [the drums], it just felt so right." At the age of eleven, Jas Kayser discovered drums for herself. Some fifteen years later, in April of this year, she released her debut album and is currently one of the most exciting newcomers on the young British jazz scene. Her music is a multi-faceted mixture in which meditative jazz arrangements alternate with energetic Afrobeats and catchy pop passages. Kayser not only combines these with a technical precision that leaves one in awe, but also weaves in personal themes such as identity, self-discovery and family.

After her studies at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, the young Briton has had a rapid career that leaves no doubt: Jas Kayser knows where she wants to go. In the last three years, she has played alongside British talents such as Alfa Mist, Poppy Ajudha, Nubya Garcia and Shabaka Hutchings. In the process, she gained a wealth of valuable experience that informs her role as a drummer, bandleader, as well as a composer.
