An On Bast & Maciej Fortuna "Electroacoustic Transcription of film music by Krzysztof Penderecki".
Electro producer, jazz trumpeter and the film music of the Polish avant-garde legend (Act 2 of 2
In their joint new project, electro-producer An On Bast and jazz trumpeter Maciej Fortuna dedicate themselves to the albums "1," "Live" and "Electroacoustic Transcription of Film Music" by their compatriot Krzysztof Penderecki. Born in 1933, Penderecki is considered one of the leading contemporary composers and a "late modern classic" who, despite his avant-garde music, broke through to the general public. His music contributed to the fame of several films such as "The Exorcist", "Shining" or "Shutter Island".
In constant change and interplay, An On Bast and Maciej Fortuna create a live performed conglomerate of electronic music and jazz, which can be described as "processingbop".
"The acoustically audible signal comes from Maciej's trumpet and is fed directly into my software. There it is then controlled by my effects, processed, looped and recorded and played back simultaneously to go through the different processes of direct transmission as if creating a live acta element," Anna Suda aka An On Bast describes the concept.
An On Bast is one of the most important producers of the Polish electro music scene. She elegantly moves between sampler, drum machine and various effects, creating soundscapes full of energy and movement. Her particular approach to exploring the most dynamic sound combinations possible is the starting point for her live techno groove and experimental concerts. She gradually moved to performing without a laptop, allowing her to experiment live with maximum freedom. In addition to performing in legendary clubs such as Berghain or Tresor in Berlin, the dynamic young artist has a penchant for festival appearances and has played at Sónar in Barcelona, Audioriver in Poland and 3000° Festival, among others.
The trumpeter, composer and producer Maciej Fortuna, also Polish, should be well known thanks to his appearance at last year's Leipziger Jazztage. Some of the guests were annoyed that they had made it so late from the opera to the naTo (although the memorably fabulous performance of John Scofield's Überjam was the best reason for that). Fortuna has been working for about five years with band projects such as his trio and the Switch On Quintet, with whom a number of albums have been produced. Furthermore, he participated in recordings by Zbigniew Wrombel, Ernst Bier and Mack Goldsbury. And now you can experience him in full length with Cinematic Jazz at the Conne Island!
