39th Leipzig Jazz Days: Sex Mob plays Fellini & James Bond / Johanna Borchert
Post-modern freak jazz from New York: The band Sex Mob, nominated for a Grammy in 2007 ("Best Contemporary Jazz Album"), is known for its quirky avant-garde jazz arrangements of great film and pop music. At the 39th Leipziger Jazztage, the four will play an exclusive program that for the first time musically combines James Bond with Nino Rota's raunchy shreds from Fellini films.
Steven Bernstein (zug-tp), Briggan Krauss (as), Tony Scherr (b) and Kenny Wollesen (dr).
With "FM Biography" Johanna Borchert presents an album full of poetry between pop and avant-garde. The singer and pianist is also no stranger to rock influences, and certainly not to hard electronic sound edges. Especially for the Leipziger Jazztage, she will perform for the first time with her band and the media artist Benjamin Schindler.
Johanna Borchert (voc, p, synth), Peter Meyer (g), Jonas Westergaard (kb), Moritz Baumgärtner (dr) and Benjamin Schindler (visuals)
