Jazzkalender #323

LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ ... and golden times.

The leaves are falling, the nights are getting cooler and yet one thing is certain: this will be a golden autumn for all of us. Because if the weather doesn't cooperate after all, then at least the music will wrap our minds in comforting warmth. The fall festival season in Leipzig has begun and there are some events you definitely shouldn't miss.

Editorial JK September 2023

First and foremost, of course, we recommend attending our 47th “ Leipziger Jazztage ” festival, whose theme is “Make the Connection.” This year, too, you can look forward to a top-notch lineup: big names in jazz will join forces with up-and-coming artists and perform at a wide variety of venues throughout the city—at the opera house, the theater, in churches, at trendy clubs, and in small cultural venues. This year’s festival will be a celebration of artistic expression and fostering connections—across both real and perceived distances. You’ll find more details on the following pages.

Other organizers are also helping to liven up the scene in Leipzig: The DOK Festival (October 8–15) promises an exciting film program. The Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra will also perform on October 22 at the “ Kulturnhalle ,” drawing from a colorful spectrum of jazz, traditional music styles from around the world, avant-garde, indie, and electronica. A few days later, October can be rounded off with wonderful jazz concerts at the LeipJAZZIg Fall Festival.

See you where the music plays.
