LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ... attention.
Out and about and so much going on! People everywhere. Even in t-shirts. Sunglasses on! Oh yes, the warm season is coming. Many so casually swaying, probably to music from headphones, strolling or engrossed in conversation. Bike pushing on the mobile typing, reading news. Gladly also everything at the same time. Like the city noise, the thoughts rattle. Already while watching. Currently located in the street scenario, it drives us away. To pause once: We are familiar with the fast pace of life and perpetual accessibility, of course. But a stopover is necessary, now once adjusted the perception and: Attention!
On February 24, 2022, the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops began. Since then, Russia's war of aggression has continued. According to the UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency), more than 3.5 million Ukrainians have left their country and fled to neighboring European countries. The exact number of victims of the war is unknown so far. Here our thoughts are current and equal to many other individuals, already existing or freshly formed collectives, governmental and non-governmental organizations we would like to show solidarity with Ukraine and its people. For March 13, at short notice and at the suggestion of pianist Olga Reznichenko, we organized a benefit concert together with the UT Connewitz, announced with the words "An evening as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine! An evening in hope for an end of the war! An evening against exclusion!", published in German, Ukrainian, Russian and English. 2.300 Euro could be collected during the evening. We would like to express our sincere thanks for the support of the musicians involved, the volunteers and all donors. The donations go in equal parts to Doctors without Borders e.V., Save the Children e.V. and the Ukraine Aid organized by the City of Leipzig and the Leipzig Group. Sometimes it means to break with the liveliness of the sound, to put away the cell phone and to concentrate in order to highlight processes, ideas, our current counterpart or simply the next live concert experience from the abundance of all possible perceptions!
