LEIPZIGER JAZzTAGE

A jazz hybrid in a class of its own - as whimsical as it is beautiful, as eccentric as it is dreamy.

It can be stated without hesitation that the trio consisting of the brilliantly playing Kaja Draksler on piano, the bundle of energy Petter Eldh on double bass and the furiously revving Christian Lillinger on drums is one of the most experimental piano trios of recent years. Punkt.Vrt.Plastik takes the possibilities of ensemble playing emancipated by free jazz to new, compositionally untapped heights.
Slovenian Kaja Draksler is an excellent pianist whose playing is at the border and intersection of jazz, free improvised music, classical modernism and new music. Petter Eldh, a Swede by choice from Berlin, is one of the busiest double bass players in contemporary European jazz. The Django Bates Trio, the high-energy quartet Amok Amor, and the backing band of Norwegian folk-pop muse Susanne Sundfør show his enormous playing range. And finally Christian Lillinger, he belongs to that squad of young drummers who have been able to establish themselves in the German jazz scene and far beyond with their unconventional way of playing and unusual rhythmic concepts. Lillinger has dedicated himself entirely to uncompromising, sometimes radically stormy free jazz, which challenges and inspires his listeners.
