Lisa Hoppe is a composer, improviser and double bass player.
In the summer of 2021 - one year after the beginning of the pandemic - she created the quintet YSOP to find answers to essential questions of your creation and being.

The grievances made visible by the pandemic year - such as confronting the loss of people, work, home, safety, or control - moved her to explore how music can contribute to coping with loss. Together with her friend and bandmate Danielle Friedman, she asked herself whether we can still be the generation after the pandemic that finally has the capacity to better process not only our own conflicts, but also the baggage of the past?

This is how the program "Songs About Healing" was created for YSOP, which approaches the topic of processing in different ways. YSOP's cast consists of women Hoppe has met at various stages of their lives. All bring not only great talent, but also different native languages, individual stories and their own generational conflicts. With their album "Songs About Healing," the artists address the issue of coming to terms with cultural and generational burdens.
