SKYLLA - this is the solo project of composer and bassist Ruth Goller, in which she herself stands at the bass guitar and sings. She was joined by the two exceptional British singers Lauren Kinsella and Alice Grant.
SKYLLA is an allusion to the mythical three-headed sea monster of the same name, which the musicians* not only show in their stage outfits, but also embody through their special interplay. The trio creates an atmosphere that seems as mysterious as sometimes dangerous - in their own intimate and unique way.
Goller draws her inspiration from deep within to create a breathtakingly original and beautiful work. Her intimacy, the outward expression of her innermost self, touches more than a few people. Praised by the Guardian for her "thunderous bass guitar hooks", Goller helped lay the foundations for the British jazz renaissance while playing in many of the most influential and popular bands, from her years on stage with Acoustic Ladyland and Melt Yourself Down to Let Spin and Vula Viel, while performing and recording with the likes of Shabaka Hutchings, Mercury Award nominee Kit Downes, Sam Amidon, Bojan Z, Marc Ribot, Rokia Traoré and Paul McCartney.
