Natalia Mateo
Jazz po Polsku with the Echo Jazz Newcomer of the Year 2016
Just like the thematic focus and concerts in a wide variety of locations from the Opera House to the Horns Erben, the close connection to the Polish jazz scene is one of the features of the Leipzig Jazz Days that sets it apart from other festivals.
This year, singer Natalia Mateo makes a guest appearance at Jazz po Polsku - and with a double show on October 3 at Horns. Born in 1983, the singer draws from the Slavic song tradition, American jazz and singer/songwriting, and contemporary pop and rock music. Jazzpodium writes about her: "Mateo's voice has something crystalline, something melancholically brittle. She sounds vulnerable - but not hurt. Self-confident, without even the hint of elitist pretension."
Natalia Mateo - vocals
Simon Grote - piano
Dany Ahmad - guitar
Felix Barth - bass
Fabian Ristau - drums
