Singing bowls, electronics and visual stimuli as a melting pot of the digital future.

The singing bowls with which Pina Bettina Rücker conjures up spherical visions and draws meaningful images in the acoustic space can be understood as symbols with metaphorical meaning, which describe the trio ruecker_brandt_[[chisholm]] extremely aptly. For example, crystal clamshells are used in the semiconductor industry to grow silicon layers. In the course of this, they function as quartz crucibles and, against this background, are both visually and audiovisually reminiscent of an industrial-looking crucible of aesthetic stylistic devices. The group works with the acoustic power of the singing bowls as well as with electronically produced sounds and visual effects. However, it is not possible to speak of a simple coexistence of these fundamentally different stylistic means. The basis of this symbiosis is an unusual methodology, which consists of a frequency evaluation of the singing bowls in real time to create electronic sound patterns, so that the natural magic of the singing bowls and the futuristic sounds of electronic devices interact with each other in the style of a dialogue. Furthermore, much emphasis is placed on diversified dynamics ranging from quiet and psychedelic-spherical to loud and expressive.

As a sound artist, Pina Rücker has made a significant contribution to the development of the quartz/crystal singing bowl into a recognized musical instrument and is thus one of the pioneers of the creative process associated with it. Marek Brandt (aka triPhaze) is one of the founding members of the Berlin laptop orchestra Endlich Automaten, which was the first of its kind to play contemporary music and thus set new accents in the field of experimental music. He works with both digital and analog equipment and founded the label privatelektro. The trio is rounded out by media artist Alexander Grobkorn, who has been working and experimenting with interdisciplinary spatial, light and video concepts since the late 1990s. Grobkorn himself is very familiar with the biggest festival stages of the republic (Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, Loveparade) and has been working as a regular visual jockey of VIZE for two years. In conclusion, it will be worth looking out for saxophone sounds produced by Hayden Chisholm, although unfortunately he cannot be physically present.
