Mouse on Mars

Pioneers Welcome! Exquisite electronic delicacies far away from the mainstream.

In 2012 the silence is broken and Mouse on Mars return with a triumphant album release on Monkeytown Records - "Parastrophics", a life-affirming album that is always good for surprises and full of ideas, exuberance and pure kinetic energy. In fact, it's like listening to the entire history of pop music at once - distilled, refined and crystallized into a flow from which a new form inevitably emerges, full of glitter and fascinating, ensnaring details. Atomized fragments from two lives, constantly listening to flare and fade away, tiny snippets of smoldering memories, tantalizing and intangible, wiped away by the next impatient idea.

Despite all this restless curiosity, "Parastrophics" nevertheless also shows an incomparable steadiness, especially with regard to the tempo. Where previous Mouse on Mars releases were almost frenetic and unruly, their new album subtly but convincingly shows who is in control. Even when the tempo picks up, 303s writhing and kicking, snares suddenly scurrying for attention, everything ultimately comes together elegantly in a - well, let's use the word - grown-up mix.

"Parastrophics" is typical Mouse on Mars-playful, but never overboard and self-indulgent. It convinces with seductive self-confidence and shows that Mouse on Mars are still the masters of their craft and pioneers of electronic music production even after a 6 year break.
Jan St. Werner (electronics), Andi Toma (electronics), Dodo Nkishi (dr, voc).
