With her new album "When the birds upraise their choir" Luise Volkmann and her band want to convey a feeling of serenity and emotional weightlessness to her listeners.

With her new album "When the birds upraise their choir" Luise Volkmann and her band want to convey a feeling of serenity and emotional weightlessness to her listeners.

The saxophonist originally comes from Bielefeld, has already lived in Natal, Paris and Copenhagen and has now settled in Cologne. Since she had not mentioned her parents in the first album of the band "Eudaimonia", she wanted to dedicate an entire album to them, or rather to her father, to whom the young musician has an intimate bond. Luise Volkmann's father belonged to the so-called 68 generation, whose philosophy was very formative for the music of their time. The musician was inspired by this and so the new album carries strong influences from it. But the 68ers are only one of many components of the diverse mass, which is emblematic of Été Larges music. For further inspirations were, among others, the protest music of the Woodstock era and also the strong influence of punk can not be ignored in the songs of the 13-member band. When choosing the musicians for her band, the founder of the group paid attention not only to their musical skills, but also to human values, which is reflected in their songs and is also recognizable for their audience.
