Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award 2019 - Award Ceremony and Concert

The trio Heuken/Stadtfeld/Heigenhuber is the winner of the Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award 2019 of the city of Leipzig supported by the Marion Ermer Foundation. The award ceremony will take place before the concert begins.
The trio focuses on the niche instrument vibraphone. The three musicians from Leipzig indulge in jazz in its modern form. Open, free and renegade, they deal with the classical principles of the jazz tradition, abandon it, throw it overboard, restructure it, come back to it. On the one hand, the band explores more or less well-known songs from jazz and pop, on the other hand, they devote themselves to the compositions of Volker Heuken and Max Stadtfeld, which clearly come from the language of jazz, but also make excursions into conceived improvisations, new music or conceptual composition.
