Hauschka & MDR Symphony Orchestra (cond. Kristjan Järvi)
Opening night of the 38th Leipzig Jazz Days: Germany's oldest radio orchestra with strings and winds meets the world-renowned experimental pianist at the prepared concert grand piano for the first time.
On the occasion of our jazz festival, Hauschka and the MDR Symphony Orchestra will interpret compositions by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt in addition to pieces by Hauschka himself. Pärt, as one of the most important authors of new music, developed with his own musical style "Tintinnabuli" a very characteristic form of simple harmony. The beauty of single tones and triads inspired Pärt to his almost contemplative compositions. In synergy with Hauschka's rhythm-conscious, experimental approach as well as the expertise of the MDR Symphony Orchestra, this promises an unforgettable evening of great musical moments.
