Florian Kästner's Berlin Calling Quartet
Night concert
On the first night of the 40th Leipzig Jazz Days, Florian Kästner presents his Berlin Calling Quartet. The pianist is practically at home in the naTo, as he regularly performs here with the Spielvereinigung Sued. After a solo album and a duo record with saxophonist Johannes Enders, he is now forming an exquisite band with three people who are well known in Leipzig and the jazz world: Exceptional guitarist Frank Möbus is a guitar professor in Weimar and primarily on the road with the bands Der Rote Bereich and Azul. Bassist Oliver Potratz is best remembered by the Jazz Days audience from his concerts with the Henrixperience Orchestra (2012) and Klima Kalima (2015). And Moritz Baumgärtner is probably the most sought-after jazz drummer these days: the Lisbeth Quartet, Melt Trio, Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, Johanna Borchert and others rely on him, and until 2014 he was also part of the pop art band Bonaparte.
