Portuguese singer Maria João and Brazilian guitarist Egberto Gismonti are acclaimed by critics and audiences around the world. Gismonti's compositions demonstrate tremendous musical imagination, and his cross-cultural style combines Brazilian folklore, contemporary chamber music and jazz. Singer Maria João moves on similar terrain: she too feels at home in Brazilian and Portuguese folklore, not without opening the borders to jazz, rock, folk and contemporary music, especially electronica. Both have already been guests at the Leipziger Jazztage, and now they are performing here together for the first time. Two new sets will be created especially for the festival, and in addition to the guitar, the concert grand piano will also be used. One of the happiest and most original encounters between two outstanding personalities of contemporary music!
