So Congo jazz is becoming a permanent fixture in our city, Kinshasa and Leipzig are moving a little closer together. What more could you want on an afternoon like this in October?

The fact that the Leipziger Jazztage features encounters between internationally renowned musicians and local up-and-coming musicians can already be seen as a tradition. In some cases, the festival audience was able to enjoy the fruits of the collaboration on stage.

And that's how we want it to happen at this edition of the festival: The Congolese guitar virtuoso Kojack Kossakamvwe will be a guest in Leipzig and will work with young musicians for one Friday and present the results the following day at the Schaubühne Lindenfels. With polyrhythmic genius, inspired by jazz and classical music, traditional Congolese sounds develop a driving force in his music. Thus, whoever gets to know Kojack Kossakamvwe is first fascinated by his special playing technique - he makes the strings vibrate not only with his right hand, but in parallel with his left hand as well - in order to then let himself be captivated by his never-ending joy of playing.
