Jonas Timm MORBU

After two years of existence, the band, led by Leipzig pianist Jonas Timm, releases its debut album.

The band MORBU deals with the limits of common verbal comprehension on the one hand and with the musical overcoming of them on the other hand. After two years of band existence, the five musicians under the leadership of Leipzig pianist Jonas Timm are now releasing their debut album in the Jazz Thing Next Generation series under the same title, and that already exemplifies the described finiteness of what can be put into words. The name of the band and the debut is a variation of the Catalan term morbo. There is no word-to-word translation into German. In a makeshift way, one could speak here of an obsession for the unusual. All musicians compose for the common band. The sources of their inspiration are as diverse as their individual life stories, which play such a decisive role for the joint project MORBU. They are storytellers who know how to use the means of jazz skilfully and at the same time know how to gently weave in their other musical experiences and imprints and thus create their own music worth listening to with dancing lightness.
