Under her artistic alter ego SOPHE, Berlin-based musician Sophia Bicking embarks on a musical search for the bridges between her own
East German origins and the present.

With her solo and above all heart project SOPHE, Berlin-based singer Sophia Bicking gives expression to her creativity in its most personal form to date. From restrained songwriting passages to jazzy modulations and funky rhythms, she pulls out all the stops of her musical skills. The singer's clear, warm voice is always at the center, and it seems to be just the right instrument to convey the broad emotional spectrum of her stories.

As a reaction to this year's Open Call of the Leipziger Jazztage "Talking 'bout my generation", Sophia Bicking dedicates SOPHE thematically to the influence of her East German origins. To this end, she actively draws a connection to her own family history and reflects on her role as a musician, as a daughter and as a granddaughter - of parents and grandparents who were also successful musicians in GDR times. In a larger context, she also poses the question of how generational and socialization differences manifest themselves and to what extent this still influences an entire generation of young people today.
