Kinobar Prager Frühling and Jazzclub Leipzig e.V. present "Music For Black Pigeons" together
"Music for Black Pigeons" is a rousing documentary by Jorgen Leth and Andreas Koefoed about "the lives and working methods of some of the world's most famous and prolific jazz musicians (...), including Jakob Bro, Bill Frisell, Lee Konitz, Paul Motian and Midori Takada."
The film team accompanies Danish jazz composer Jakob Bro on his musical travels over the last 14 years and follows him through the vibrant music scenes of North America, Europe and Japan. No wonder that particularly intimate or improvised moments were captured. In the legendary jazz recording rooms of New York, Copenhagen and Lugano, for example, the audience experiences live jams with the participation of outstanding artists such as Mark Turner, Thomas Morgan and Joey Baron.
The film not only delves deep into the musicians' individual creative processes, but also highlights the unique energy and togetherness that arises when these talents work together. In between the gripping live performances, "Music for Black Pigeons" provides revealing insights into the personalities of the musicians, including saxophonist Mark Turner and double bassist Thomas Morgan. A dynamic journey through the world of jazz that celebrates the diversity and innovation of this musical genre.
