"Jazzwelten - Big Band History meets European Footprints".
Saxony Youth Jazz Orchestra & Milan Svoboda (p)
In the twenty years since its founding, over 250 young talents have participated in the Saxony Youth Jazz Orchestra. In the project phases, which take place twice a year, the young musicians meet international greats of the jazz scene to work on typical compositions and arrangements by well-known jazz musicians and perform them in several concerts within the project. Thus, the orchestra could inspire its audience in Denmark, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Poland, Latvia, Sweden, Spain, Hungary, Finland, Italy, India, Greece, Canada or Romania. For the project phase this February, the Saxon Music Council has once again succeeded in winning over the world-renowned jazz pianist Milan Svoboda. Together with the JJO Saxony, the professor for composition and jazz harmony at the Prague Conservatory will develop a special program: He will juxtapose modern compositions by American jazz musicians such as Thad Jones, Buddy Rich, Bob Mintzer, Gordon Goodwin, Maria Schneider with his own works. Here jazz of the new world - originated in the USA, there jazz from the old world - by Milan Svoboda, the European from the Czech Republic, who has managed to develop his own distinctive style. Two poles that are juxtaposed? Which mix and yet harmonize? One may be very curious!
