It's FLASHBACK time again! You can expect a moving musical homage to one of the most talented trombonists of avant-garde and free jazz: Grachan Moncur.
His roots in the blues and bebop of J.J. Johnson shaped his unique musical vision. With albums like "Evolution," "Some Other Stuff," and "New Africa" on Blue Note and BYG, he contributed significantly to the development of these genres in the 1960s.
Moncur's collaborations with jazz icons such as Lee Morgan, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Archie Shepp left an indelible mark on the jazz world. In particular, his creative work "Destination... Out!" with Jackie McLean remains unforgotten. Despite his expressive trombone playing and multi-layered compositions, Grachan Moncur III remained a rather underrated artist. So the Flashback concert is a much-needed opportunity to celebrate his legacy and bring his music to a new generation of music lovers*.
