Shortly after the two begin their studies at the Academy of Music in Leipzig, they find out that they share an interest in classical composition, chamber music and American jazz. What begins with profound conversations about musical greats such as Wagner, Schumann and Beethoven turns into a long-lasting friendship. And into the joint pursuit of their greatest passion.

We are talking about jazz saxophonist Matti Oehl and jazz pianist Philip Frischkorn. With Rediscovered: Cole Porter they now present their first joint duo project.

In this edition of Flashback, the two jazz musicians from Leipzig devote themselves to various songs by the great Broadway and Hollywood composer Cole Porter, "whose compositions have become part of the cultural memory in the American Songbooks and have been recorded in countless recordings by diverse artists. Matti Oehl and Philip Frischkorn arrange and process the melodies and harmonies in their own unique way and expose different facets of the compositions. The program is sometimes lyrical, sometimes humorous, sometimes classical and sometimes modern and always pays respect to the originals."
