It's a nice feeling when good things last: Since our 44th festival edition, the cooperation between the Leipziger Jazztage and the project "Euregio Collective" anchored in the South Tyrol Jazz Festival Alto Adige has been taking place. The project unites musicians* from Trentino, South Tyrol and Tyrol. This creates a synergetic exchange of the respective regions, projects and music scenes. This year, Leipzig-based percussionist Daniel Klein meets Trentino-based vibraphonist Mirko Pedrotti.
Klein's love of experimentation, playfulness and precision meets Pedrotti's sophisticated style, which he has been translating into classical and modern music for years. Klein has been playing in various formations for years and was taught in Berlin, Weimar and Leipzig by renowned musicians* such as Harald Kuendgen, Jo Thoenes and Heinrich Koebberling. Pedrotti studied at the conservatory "F. A. Bonporti" in Trento and is part of the biggest orchestras in Italy (like the Accademia Nazionale Di Santa Cecilia in Rome) and is also on tour with his Mirko Pedrotti Quintet. "In my experience, music does not lie," says Pedrotti. An exciting and honest first encounter!
