LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ..."Out Of The Dark"
Why not start with Johann "Hans" Hölzel aka Falco? Many a catchy tune falls with unabashed force and haven't we been alone often enough in the past few months, immersed and plunging ourselves into whatever just demanded to be heard? We can't deny it. At home. Waiting. At home. At work. At home. Outside. Only briefly. To be home again. "Count the hours, the seconds, but time seems to stand still" - to the end!
It goes on. In a different, more cautious way than in pre-crisis times, of that there is no doubt. We will finally be able to resume our concert schedule in September and the 44th Leipzig Jazz Days will take place from October 15-24! While the diggers in front of our offices gobbled up the street, creating a hint of desert and slowly making our paths passable again, a new festival program has been created inside - under high pressure and with growing anticipation. The Jazz Days will open in the Kunstkraftwerk, in the west of Leipzig, with the awarding of the City of Leipzig's Jazz Young Talent Prize with the support of the Marion Ermer Foundation, followed by a concert. Just as we would not want to miss an extraordinary closing evening at the Opera House, we will also be bringing concerts to the UT Connewitz in the south of Leipzig and to the naTo. At night, a trip to a church or two will be worthwhile. And even if dance floors are still not allowed to shake with euphoric steps, we will remain loyal to clubs such as Werk 2. With this year's festival motto "Transitions", we want to reflect the spirit of the times at the festivals of fragile normality and address transitions from different perspectives with regional musicians and national guests. In this context, we are particularly pleased about cooperations with other organizers and festivals, including XJAZZ, Südtirol Jazzfestival and LeipJAZZig. You can always follow the latest developments in the festival program at www.jazzclub-leipzig.de/jazztage/.
