LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ... AND HEAPS OF HAPPINESS
Especially in the pre-Christmas season, one is not immune to it - the feverish joy. With the hood pulled deep into your face, you're cycling through urban barrenness, completely surrendered to the flattering dreariness of falling leaves in the drizzle, when a troop of elk-white fellow fifties, their cheeks lit up by mulled wine, staggers in front of your fender. Little bells are ringing everywhere. Rustling bags filled with borrowed happiness are carried into residential castles festooned with fairy lights, and in the face of all this, we just can't help ourselves and contribute our share to the cheerfulness.
Cheers, the first one! On 27.11., our concert series was awarded the APPLAUS venue programming prize, which recognizes the programming of independent venues, for the fifth time. For those of you who are still looking for presents and don't want to reach into the box of nonsense: Grab your loved ones and attend a concert! Our Jazzclub live series already has a lot to offer at the end and beginning of the year. And who wants bells and whistles under the tree when you can experience something together? Hilarity two: we can already reveal part of the program for the upcoming MusikZeit, which will take place in April 2020 under the motto "All registers - the organ in jazz": on 17 April, Barbara Dennerlein will play the organ in the Reformed Church in Leipzig and her Hammond B3. And because we're already in the tinsel: Dennerlein's "Christmas Soul" is a remarkable piece of festive background music that you can also listen to beyond the cookie box. Also on the bill: the Krokenberger/Oehl duo and Jo Aldinger's DOWNBEATCLUB. Last but not least, with a golden bow and HoHoHo: we are delighted to present John Scofield and Dave Holland at the upcoming 44th Leipziger Jazztage in October 2020 at the Opera House. It's going to be a party!
Grinning from ear to ear and wishing you a happy new year
