Jazz calendar #299

LET'S TALK ABOUT JAZZ... AND HEAPS OF HAPPINESS

Especially in the pre-Christmas season, one is not immune to it - the feverish joy. With the hood pulled deep into your face, you're cycling through urban barrenness, completely surrendered to the flattering dreariness of falling leaves in the drizzle, when a troop of elk-white fellow fifties, their cheeks lit up by mulled wine, staggers in front of your fender. Little bells are ringing everywhere. Rustling bags filled with borrowed happiness are carried into residential castles festooned with fairy lights, and in the face of all this, we just can't help ourselves and contribute our share to the cheerfulness.

Cheers, the first! On 27.11. our concert series has been awarded for the fifth time with the venue program award APPLAUS, which honors the programming of independent venues. For those of you who are still looking for gifts and don't want to reach into the box of mischief: Grab your loved ones and attend a concert! Our Jazzclub Live series already has a lot to offer at the end and beginning of the year. And who wants frills under the tree when you can experience something together? Hilarity two: we can already tell you part of the program of the upcoming MusikZeit, which will take place under the motto "All stops - the organ in jazz" in April 2020: on April 17, Barbara Dennerlein will play the organ in the Reformed Church in Leipzig and her Hammond B3. And since we are already in the tinsel: from Dennerlein there is with "Christmas Soul" a piece of remarkable festive background music, which can be heard well beyond the cookie box. Also on the bill: the Krokenberger/Oehl duo and Jo Aldinger's DOWNBEATCLUB. Last but not least, with a golden bow and HoHoHo: we are very happy to present John Scofield and Dave Holland at the upcoming 44th Leipziger Jazztage in October 2020 at the Opera House. That will be a feast!

It grins from ear to ear and wishes a happy new year
