Double concert with Moritz Stahl Quintett - Nils Kugelmann has long since made a name for himself in the young German jazz scene with his trio around pianist Luca Zambito and drummer Sebastian Wolfgruber.

Structured like a classical jazz trio, they move in its sonic spheres and yet find their own original sound. This is shaped by Nils Kugelmann's experience as a classical composer and the trio's risk-taking dynamics. The result: cinematically energetic sound worlds that immediately captivate their listeners.

Virtuously, Nils Kugelmann merges with his instrument, putting the bass in the center of attention with full power - and without losing his band mates for even a second. On the contrary: the harmony between the three longtime friends is palpable in every note. This symbiosis deepens in the bassist's self-image. For in his role as composer, Nils Kugelmann sees himself as a generator of ideas who, in the musical elaboration of his works, embarks on a search for his own sound together with his trio. In this way, they succeed in transforming the classical jazz trio into an exciting, almost innovative formation, which repeatedly goes its own way and constantly develops itself further.

The Nils Kugelmann Trio is the multiple award-winning bassist Nils Kugelmann, pianist Luca Zambito, who won the Young Munich Jazz Prize 2021 with his quartet, and drummer Sebastian Wolfgruber, a member of the fusion quintet Fazer and the Munich trio LBT.

Laureate concert of the BMW Young Artist Jazz Award - a cooperation with the Cultural Office Munich.
